Biography

Born in 1970 in Bourg-en-Bresse, David Décamp spent part of his childhood in the Jura region.

A self-taught artist, trained as a logger and tree surgeon, it was following a work accident in 1993 that he dedicated himself to sculpture and drawing.
From the 2000s, his approach evolved, his subjects became conceptualized, and the forms and materials changed. Bone, lead, wood, and sometimes natural mummification are integrated into his work as if he sought to exorcise an often autobiographical and inhospitable journey by infusing it with dark humor:

By working on his own story, David Décamp explores a leaden nature where the urgency to change compels humanity to radically alter the toxic relationship it maintains with its environment.

Currently, the artist lives and works in the Loire region.
